Weather girl, Jessica Light, is going to let you know what to expect for the weather for the ENTIRE fall season.
Fall weather in Hawaii is the high of 86 degrees and a low of 66 degrees at night with the ocean temperature average of 81 degrees with an occasional rain shower or Hawaiian blessing throughout your day. That is it in a nut shell for the entire month of October, and it will not vary much through the winter either. January is a cool 80 degrees in the day and 66 at night with the ocean temperature at 76 degrees.
Don't get me wrong, Hawaii is fantastic, amazing, and breathtakingly beautiful, but can you say BORING???? I am not joking.....the weather is practically the exact same day in and day out. We get an occasional shower in the morning, mid afternoon, and in the evening. We have the trade winds one week, and then they are gone the next. The most interesting thing we have had is Vog. No, I did not spell it wrong. We get volcanic ash from the Big Island of Hawaii, and it floats over us like fog. We have had that only a few times in the last 6 months, and that was exciting weather news for here. Other big news here is the surf report each day, and traffic gets horrible over here on the North Shore when surfs up! We might sit in traffic for 30 minutes extra, so it is not anything close to D.C. traffic. At least we get to look at the Dole pineapple fields or the ocean while we sit in a traffic jam. I swear though, I am living in the movie Groundhog Day since life is practically the same day in and day out. Can someone please send me some crisp fall weather so I can wear my Peacoat, Uggs, and a pair of jeans? I want some beautiful red, orange, and yellow fall leaves from the trees in Arlington Cemetery. I want to see something different than palm trees, hibiscus or plumeria flowers, banana or papaya trees. I want to smell a fireplace on a cold night, see my breath in the air while at a football game, make chili during football season. It just seems wrong to be sitting in my living room, sweating in a bikini, eating breakfast, and watching football on TV. Hmmmm, do you think I am getting island fever???
